Bank Systems Analyst

Position Summary:
The Bank Systems Analyst is a key member of our technology team, responsible for the analysis, design, implementation, and support of banking software systems. This role serves as a critical bridge between business stakeholders (e.g., lending, deposits, operations) and the technology department, ensuring that our core banking and ancillary systems effectively meet business needs, regulatory requirements, and strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of banking processes, excellent analytical skills, and experience with banking software platforms.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Systems Analysis & Design:
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of business requirements, workflows, and processes to identify opportunities for system enhancements and new solutions.
    • Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications and technical requirements for developers and vendors.
    • Design and document system configurations, workflows, and integrations to ensure efficient and effective system performance.
  • Implementation & Project Management:
    • Lead or participate in the implementation of new banking systems, modules, and upgrades.
    • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and track progress to ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
    • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), training, and system go-live activities.
  • Support & Maintenance:
    • Provide ongoing support for core banking and related systems, troubleshooting issues, and resolving user problems in a timely manner.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for system vendors, managing support tickets and ensuring effective communication.
    • Perform regular system maintenance, including applying patches, updates, and performing system-level configurations.
  • Regulatory & Compliance:
    • Ensure all system configurations and processes comply with banking regulations (e.g., BSA/AML, SOX, GLBA).
    • Work with internal audit and compliance teams to address system-related findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Reporting & Data Analysis:
    • Create and maintain custom reports and queries to support business operations, management reporting, and regulatory requirements.
    • Analyze system data to identify trends, improve efficiency, and support business decisions.
  • Documentation & Training:
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including user manuals, process flows, and technical specifications.
    • Conduct training sessions for end-users on system functionalities, new features, and best practices.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a systems analyst, business analyst, or similar role, with a strong focus on the financial services industry, is preferred.
    • Hands-on experience with a core banking platform (e.g., Fiserv, Jack Henry, Finastra, FIS).
    • Proven experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., JIRA, Asana).
  • Skills:
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
    • Strong understanding of banking operations, including lending, deposits, and back-office processes.
    • Proficiency in SQL for data querying and reporting.
    • Experience with reporting tools (e.g., Crystal Reports, SSRS, Tableau) is a plus.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift to 25 pounds occasionally.
    • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment, including computers and cash counters.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and in writing.
  • Work Environment:
    • This is a full-time, on-site position. The role may require occasional evening or weekend work to support system implementations or critical incidents.
