Waldport, OR – Lynn Thomson, a 30-year resident of Yachats, has been promoted to the position of Manager of Oregon Coast Bank in Waldport. She replaces Joe Postlewait, who recently transferred to the bank’s main office to work in financial operations and investments. Thomson, who has been a banker in Lincoln County for 19 years, helped open Oregon Coast Bank’s Newport and Waldport offices.

Born and raised near Buffalo, New York, Thomson received a degree in Human Resources from Hilbert College. Visiting her sister in Yachats, she fell in love with the area and moved here in 1979. She began her banking career at National Security Bank’s Yachats branch in 1990. In 1998 Thomson became a Loan Assistant at Lincoln Security Bank in Newport. When that bank was sold to a regional chain in 2002, she accepted an offer to become a loan officer at the newly formed, locally owned and operated Oregon Coast Bank. In 2006, Oregon Coast Bank’s Board of Directors announced that the bank’s fourth office would be located in Waldport. As a long-time south county resident, Thomson was asked to help in the Waldport opening. Showing her banking versatility, she has provided consumer lending while assisting with the new accounts and teller functions of the Waldport office.

Active in the community, Thomson is currently a member of Lincoln County Food Share’s Board of Directors. She also served two years as the Survivor Chair for Relay for Life. While her children were attending local schools, Thomson was an active volunteer. Her son is now a financial advisor and her daughter a dental assistant, both in the Portland area. Thomson currently has two grandchildren and a third on the way. A long-time runner, she recently added golf to her athletic endeavors. Despite living in the heart of Beaver and Duck country, she remains an ardent supporter of the University of Washington Huskies.

“Lynn is one of the most respected and well known bankers in Lincoln County,” commented Fred Postlewait, President and Chief Executive Officer of Oregon Coast Bank. “As an involved, long-time South County resident, she’s a natural to lead our efforts in Waldport.”

“I’ve always believed that we should treat customers exactly how we’d want to be treated ourselves,” explained Thomson. “That’s also the bank’s philosophy and it’s probably why we’ve grown the way we have.”

A locally owned and operated community bank, Oregon Coast Bank now has over $125 million in assets and employs 36. Over the past seven years, Oregon Coast Bank has invested more than $250 million into the central coast economy in the form of loans to local families and businesses.
