Newport, OR – After nine years of service, Richard K. Beemer, M.D. has retired from the Board of Directors of Oregon Coast Bank. A staunch advocate of community banking, Dr. Beemer was one of the seven founding directors of Oregon Coast Bank and served as the board’s first chairperson. A retired surgeon, Dr. Beemer was instrumental in helping the bank grow to five offices and more than $160 million in assets. During Beemer’s tenure on the board, Oregon Coast Bank invested more than $275 million into the Central Oregon Coast economy in the form of loans to local families and businesses.

A complimentary lunch buffet in Beemer’s honor will be held at Oregon Coast Bank’s Newport office on Friday, May 6 from 11 am – 1 pm. The community is invited.

“Our bank and the entire community owe a great deal of gratitude to Dr. Beemer for his tireless efforts,” commented Fred Postlewait, Oregon Coast Bank’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “He believed that Newport would be better off with a locally owned and operated financial institution and he invested both his time and savings to make it a reality.”
